I will have a question regarding the test decribed in EN 81-20, 6.3.11 Ascending car overspeed protection means:
The test shall be made while the empty car is ascending at not less than rated speed, using only this device for braking.
In this case; machine is gearless and brake is the stopping device, overspeed governor is the triggering device (uni-directional safety gear).
In which way the inspectors perform this test?
- using the test groove on the overspeed governor (to make a test in rated speed). Not sure if test groove is always present (could be optional), or
- increasing the travel speed to > 115% of rated speed in the frequency inverter, or
- somehow opening the brakes (still safety circuit dependant, when overspeed governor contact opens brake drops) and let the car run upwards due to gravity.
